Remeber the first time

Can you recall the first time you opened that book? Listend to that song? Saw the first episode? Do you rember? You knew nothing about it. About the characters. The story. That feeling you get just the first couple of minutes and you know, you already know that it's made for you. And you can't wait to explore the whole world. Know it all.Having the experience for the first time. Like the first kiss. You can always do it again but there's nothing like a first.

Then you throw yourself into it. Barley watch, read or listening to anything else. It consumes you and you let it. And you google it, find pictures and slowly work your way into the fandom. Wich is always a bittersweet moment. What if you come across spoilers or the others don't think that you are fan enough. Don't you just wish you where impudently rich so you could buy all the things related? Suddenly you get all thoose references, and you see references you never saw before in other places. And then. Crossovers. Oh yeah. You know they are silly, but you love'em. Do I need to mention fanfiction? The beginning is intense.

It cools down after a while and you will feel at home in the fandom. You know pretty much about this new world. You will still search and find more but not with the same ferocity. And you enjoy it by watch, read or listen to it again. Perhaps there's new stuff coming. And then you might look back on the time when everything was new.

I'm there right now. Or well on my way out of it I suppose. I had a three month long christmas watching dr. Who. And just now I'm starting to cool down and feel that I can share my thoughts in forums. Apperently dr Who is quite famous but I had never heard of it, until a friend made a post on facebook that made me curios. How come I havn't know about it before. There are references litterally everywhere. And I'm just getting to see this. It's so wierd, and my friends thought it was wierd that I hadn't seen it before. I have now. And I love it. Few series has made such an inpact on me and my life. Acctually not few. Only one other. It's like it's more than just a good show. I'm being really draged in. I know many people feel this way about their fandom.

And then internet came. I feel that my fandoms grow on the internet to more than it would be otherwise. We urge eachother on more and more and can share so much. Images, music, opininons. I love spending time discussing different aspects of dr Who with the fb-group I'm in. I don't even know how healthy it is to get this engaged in a fandom, but I suppose there are worse things I could do.
