Remeber the first time

Can you recall the first time you opened that book? Listend to that song? Saw the first episode? Do you rember? You knew nothing about it. About the characters. The story. That feeling you get just the first couple of minutes and you know, you already know that it's made for you. And you can't wait to explore the whole world. Know it all.Having the experience for the first time. Like the first kiss. You can always do it again but there's nothing like a first.

Then you throw yourself into it. Barley watch, read or listening to anything else. It consumes you and you let it. And you google it, find pictures and slowly work your way into the fandom. Wich is always a bittersweet moment. What if you come across spoilers or the others don't think that you are fan enough. Don't you just wish you where impudently rich so you could buy all the things related? Suddenly you get all thoose references, and you see references you never saw before in other places. And then. Crossovers. Oh yeah. You know they are silly, but you love'em. Do I need to mention fanfiction? The beginning is intense.

It cools down after a while and you will feel at home in the fandom. You know pretty much about this new world. You will still search and find more but not with the same ferocity. And you enjoy it by watch, read or listen to it again. Perhaps there's new stuff coming. And then you might look back on the time when everything was new.

I'm there right now. Or well on my way out of it I suppose. I had a three month long christmas watching dr. Who. And just now I'm starting to cool down and feel that I can share my thoughts in forums. Apperently dr Who is quite famous but I had never heard of it, until a friend made a post on facebook that made me curios. How come I havn't know about it before. There are references litterally everywhere. And I'm just getting to see this. It's so wierd, and my friends thought it was wierd that I hadn't seen it before. I have now. And I love it. Few series has made such an inpact on me and my life. Acctually not few. Only one other. It's like it's more than just a good show. I'm being really draged in. I know many people feel this way about their fandom.

And then internet came. I feel that my fandoms grow on the internet to more than it would be otherwise. We urge eachother on more and more and can share so much. Images, music, opininons. I love spending time discussing different aspects of dr Who with the fb-group I'm in. I don't even know how healthy it is to get this engaged in a fandom, but I suppose there are worse things I could do.

Just a lovable quote from a great movie

"Civilized man refused to adapt himself to his environment; instead, he adapted his environment to suit him. So he built cities, roads, vehicles, machinery, and he put up power lines to run his labour-saving devices.
But somehow he didn't know where to stop. The more he improved his surroundings to make life easier, the more complicated he made it. So now his children are sentenced to 10-15 years of school, just to learn how to survive in this complex and hazardous habitat they were born into.
And civilized man, who refused to adapt to his surroundings, now finds he has to adapt and re-adapt every hour of the day to his self-created environment. For instance, if it's Monday and 7:30 comes up, you have to dis-adapt from your domestic surroundings and re-adapt yourself to an entirely different environment. 8:00 means everybody has to look busy. 10:30 means you can stop looking busy for 15 minutes. And then you have to look busy again.
And so your day is chopped into pieces, and in each segment of time you adapt to a new set circumstances. No wonder some people go off the rails a bit..."

Thoughts about Mockinbird Lane

After writing about Mockingbird Lane yesterday I feel obligated to also give my thoughts after watching the pilot. To be honest I can understand why they decided not to take up the serie. It was to all over the place and the characters didn't impress. You'd think that a family made of a frankestein-monster, two vamps and a warewolfpup would have some path mapped out. However Portia di Rossi and Jerry O'Connell gave a quite boring performance and Eddie Izzard tried to hard and achieved nothing.
I still think the idea of the serie is good and might even get big, but I think a new director would be in order.

Mockingbird Lane

I'm sorry. I live in Sweden and we get Ellen months after the States. Wich means I saw the Halloween shows just the other day. What are you gonna do?
Anyway.. I'm glad I did because otherwise I wouldn't have found out about Mockingbird Lane. It's a remake of the Munsters, a sitcom that was on in the 60's. I think I've seen bits of it when I was younger. I was very into the Addams family as a kid. I have a feeling I need to see this show. The Cast seems like a cool and fun bunch as well:

Jerry O'Connell as Herman Munster
Portia de Rossi as Lily Munster
 Charity Wakefield as Marilyn Munster
Mason Cook as Eddie Munster
Eddie Izzard as Grandpa Sam Dracula

I'm looking forward to see if Portia is any good at all. I only know her from being Ellens wife.
Mason Cook he is too precocious I'm telling you. I can't wait too see him as a little warewolfpup.
What to say about Eddie Izzard, he is great as a comedian, I love his stuff.
I can't say anything about Charity Wakefield or Jerry O'Connell yet, I'll just have too watch it first.

The Pilot is out, but unfortunatley there won't be a serie of it since NBC passed on it.
NBC chief Robert Greenblatt said: "We just decided that it didn't hold together well enough to yield a series. It looked beautiful and original and creative, but it just all ultimately didn't come together... it just didn't ultimately creatively all work. We felt great about that cast, but we tried to make it not just a sitcom. We tried to make it an hour, which ultimately has more dramatic weight than a half-hour. It's hard to calibrate how much weirdness vs. supernatural vs. family story. I just think we didn’t get the mix right"

I'm acctually just going to sit me down and watch the pilot.

Thoughts about cut4bieber

Cut4Bieber's been a hot topic and I've encountered some disscussions myself. Some more intellegent than others. It makes me angry that some people acctually thinks that thoose who cut themself deserves it and that Justin made this happen. Pehaps they don't realize that it's young girls, merly childs that are being pushed to do this. And that not everyone is strong and confindent, never bullied and parents who tought them to be sure of themself and supported them. Good for you that you have such a strong head and can resist peer pressure. Please wake up though. Everyone isn't you!
Needless to say alot of people felt the images where disturbing and provoking. So did I and I only saw a few. I wont post any of the pictures here.

"I'm a belieber myself and it is really annoying to see other so called beliebers doing this to themselves. Justin isn't perfect, he makes mistakes but he doesn't deserve this. When he sees what's happening (which he will) he will be very sad about it . He never wanted any of this to happen and neither did I . I am dissapointed to be apart of this fandom at the moment. Self harm is serious and this is ridiculous. Also, this gives an even worse name to us beliebers. Not all of us are like that but we have to put up with the hate."

"The people that started this are trolls. And if anyone would actually harm themselves because he smoked some pot ... that's just sad. These people are the reasons why more people don't understand the very serious topic of self injury. It is an addiction, and it can ruin lives. It is not something to laugh about. I am a Bieber fan, and these girls make all of us look bad. I've had people calling me crazy and asking me if my struggles with depression were because Bieber smoked. ... No, you idiots. He's a big boy and he can do what he wants. *sorry for ranting*"

"Justin Bieber is shit. He needs to controll his fans!"

Cut4Bieber

Today I read something quite disturbing. Apperently a group of people started the cut4bieber and cutting4bieber on twitter as some kind of sick joke. The Justin Bieber fans or Beliebers are young, mostly girls in a time of their life that frankly is hard enough. And to push them into self-harm. This joke is sick, and I hope the people who did it realize how serious it is and feel some remorse.  I think this is a result of the hate that many people seem to have towards Beliebers, and over the internet you might not understand exactly how much damage you can do.

I see people stepping over the line often even thoose who on one hand preaching how we should let people like what they want and not make such a big deal out of it. Next day they would post some unnecissary and mean comment about a fandom that they themself dislike.

I also came across an earlier joke about going bald for Bieber. Although it's not fun to joke about cancer I do think it's a good joke. The part that girls would simply shave of their hair without wait a couple of days to see if it's genuine. If you fell for it, you deserve to be bald for a while.

That kind of joke would be fun to try on other big fandoms, like Potterheads and Twihards. I would never shave my head for a celebrity, but it would be fun to see who would.

To all Beliebers out there, stay strong trough the hate and don't cut yourself. I doubt that mr Bieber would want that, and it will not stop him from smoking weed.

I'm staying tuned on this to see if Justin himself will make a comment about this.

Bear Grylls & Rory Williams

One day my boyfriend was watching Bear Grylls on telly. And it hit me that he could be Rory Williams/Pond in 5-10 years. I also thought what a fail on casting Mark Williams as Brian Williams for "Dinosaurs on a Spaceship" instead of asking Bear Grylls. Maybe it was an accent issue.

I know I spelled Grylls last name wrong. That's what you get for being sloppy and saving to early without backup.

Under Construction

I'm just about making this blog. But if you are into any fandom feel free to come back here later.
